MANY SHAPES OF COTTON

MERCERISED COTTON

Have you ever wondered why some cotton products feel softer and look shinier than others? The answer is mercerisation.

The process of mercerisation takes cotton to a better level, improving all its properties and turning ordinary cotton into a luxury fabric.

The cotton mercerisation process occurs during the soaking of fabric in a bath of sodium hydroxide when the uneven fibres of cotton are deformed.

In simple terms, the kidney-shaped cross-section of the cotton fibre is transformed into a circular, almost perfect shape.

THIS GIVES THE FINAL PRODUCT NEW PROPERTIES:

    higher material strength

    better colour stability

    silky gloss

    more pleasant touch
